Stay Informed

Jean is always working for you, but here you can find out some of what she's doing on a daily basis.

Gray skies have gone away...

Jean was out and about in Marysville over the last few days, where she attended a luncheon put on by the city of Marysville for its Senior Citizens. Jean had fantastic conversations and shared a wonderful meal with dozens of Marysville seniors. After that, she walked the downtown core, doorbelling and reminding people to vote by the August 17th Primary.

We were covering several neighborhoods in Marysville, and our doorbellers were able to meet quite a few of our neighbors. Once the sun came out from behind the clouds, it turned into several days of good weather and meeting voters!

Jean's voting record

Several of you have been asking for Jean's voting record, to find out for yourselves if Jean favors Big Business, or if she's failing our children. Here are a couple of links that will give you the information you need to make up your own mind:

  1. Washington Votes
  2. The Senate's page on Jean's Bill Sponsorship

Both of these pages are impartial, created by someone completely outside of this (or any other) campaign. We hope that they will help you make up your own mind!

Sunny weather continues, and Senator Berkey keeps doorbelling

Jean was out in Riverside yesterday doorbelling to remind voters to fill out their ballots and mail them in by August 17th. While we were out there, we met with quite a few voters. It really was a pleasure to meet so many of you, and see the wonderful gardens that spring up in North Everett!

There were some hard questions for Jean, and several voters mentioned their disappointment that a Voter's Guide wasn't printed, but all in all, it was a good day out in North Everett.

Yard Signs, Doorbells, and sunny skies...

This weekend, yard signs sprouted all over the 38th. We had volunteers all over the District hammering signs into front yards and talking with voters. A big thank you goes out to the firemen who helped put up signs!

Jean was out and about too, doorbelling in several precincts. We stopped and spoke with one voter who was having trouble with EvCC. After she explained her situation, Jean made a call and now the situation is smoothing out. That's the kind of Senator Jean is: she hears about a problem someone is having, and she connects them to a real solution as soon as possible.

All this beautiful weather had our friends and neighbors out working in their gardens, walking their dogs, and spending time with their families. It was a real pleasure for Jean and the campaign team to get out and meet so many of you.

Where is all the money coming from?

We've been out there working hard to meet as many of the voters as possible, and one thing keeps coming up: fliers paid for by a third party that's putting money into the race here in the 38th. Those fliers have some nasty things to say about Jean, but they are not coming from any of the candidates running. At the bottom of the flier there is a disclaimer saying that no candidate financed those fliers, but that they were paid for by a Political Action Committee called "Stand Up For Citizens" and Moxie Media (a high priced political advising team).

Stand Up For Citizens has already put $47,000 into this race. They've paid $25,000 to oppose Jean and $22,000 to support Nick Harper. That $47,000 is an incredible amount being poured into this race. So what are they using that money for, other than those fliers? They are paying a Seattle company to send people up here to Everett to doorbell. Those thousands of dollars buy a lot of doorbelling time. That is just what they have spent so far. If they are willing to spend almost $50,000 when the Primary is still a month away, how much money will they end up paying to send Seattle doorbellers up here to tell us what's best?

Summer is here!

We all hope that you have been able to get out to enjoy the sunny weather we are having!

Jean has been hard at work while the sun shined down on the 38th, sending out mailers and tonight she will be meeting with constituents.

Make sure you all take care of yourselves in the heat. Use sunscreen, wear a hat, and drink plenty of fluids. Let's all enjoy this beautiful weather as we gear up for the August 17th primary elections!

Happy Fourth!

We all hope that your Holiday Weekend was full of fun and good times! What was Jean up to on the fourth?

Well, this weekend, thousands of people turned out to see Everett's Fourth of July Parade. Jean and her husband, Don, decided to walk the parade route and connect face to face with the real families of the 38th District. Jean was proud to get out and meet so many of the voters in one day. She and Don heard dozens of stories from real families, and received several pledges of support.

While Jean and Don walked the sides of the parade, several of Jean's supporters joined the 38th District Democrats and marched the parade route waving signs and handing out candy to the kids.

All in all, we had a great 4th of July, and we hope you did too!
